Fighting Anxiety and Depression
This is my comfort in my affliction for your word has given me life. I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in His word I do hope. My soul waits for the Lord more than those who watch for the morning- yes more than those who watch for the morning. And in the shadow of your wings, I will make my refuge, until these calamities have passed by. My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and give praise. I will sing to the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have my being. May my meditation be sweet to Him. I will be glad in the Lord. I will sing to the Lord because He has dealt bountifully with me. The Lord is my strength and my song, and He has become my salvation. It is good to give thanks to the Lord, and to sing praises to your name, O most high; to declare your lovingkindness in the morning and your faithfulness every night, on an instrument of ten strings, on the lute, and on the harp, with harmonious sounds. For you, Lord, have made me glad through your work; I will triumph in the works of your hands. This is the day the Lord has made; I will rejoice and be glad in it. You have put gladness in my heart, more than in the season that their grain and wine increased. The Lord will command His lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night His song shall be with me- a prayer to the God of my life. The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in Him; and I am helped; therefore, my heart greatly rejoices, and with my song I will praise Him. Praise the Lord, for the Lord is good: sing praises to His name for it is pleasant. I will be glad and rejoice in You; I will sing praise to your name, O most high. But let all those rejoice who put their trust in you; let them ever shout for joy because you defend them; let those also who love your name be joyful in you. He will not be afraid of evil tidings; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord. Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is none upon earth that I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart fail; but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You. In God (I will praise His word), In God I have put my trust; I will not fear. The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life, of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked came against me to eat up my flesh, my enemies and foes, they stumbled and fell. Though an army encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war may rise up against me, in this I will be confident. The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me? The Lord is for me among those who help me. God is our refuge and strength a very present help in trouble. Therefore, I will not fear, even though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; though its water roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with its swelling. I cast my burden upon the Lord, and He sustains me; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved. If I say “My foot slips”, Your mercy, O Lord, will hold me up. In the multitude of my anxieties within me, your comforts delight my soul. I sought the Lord, and He heard me and delivered me from all my fears. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. For you will light my lamp; the Lord my God will enlighten my darkness. For by you I can run against a troop. By my God I can leap over a wall. As for my God, His way is perfect; the word of the Lord is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him. But you, O Lord, are a shield for me, my glory and the one who lifts up my head. You have hedged me behind and before and laid your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain it. I will cry out to God Most High, to God who performs all things for me. It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect. Wait on the Lord, be of good courage, and He shall strengthen my heart; wait, I say, on the Lord! Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him. I waited patiently for the Lord; and He inclined to me and heard my cry. He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock and established my steps. He has put a new song in my mouth- praise to our God; many will see it and fear and will trust in the Lord. I will both lie down in peace and sleep; for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety. When I remember you on my bed, I meditate on you in the night watches. Because you have been my help, therefore in the shadow of Your wings I will rejoice. The Lord lives! Blessed by my Rock! Let the God of my salvation be exalted. I will extol you, my God, O King; and I will bless Your name forever and ever. Every day I will bless You, and I will praise your name forever and ever.
